Tao Nan School, established in 1906, is one of Singapore's oldest and most prestigious primary schools. Founded by the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan, the school was originally located at Empress Place before moving to its current premises at Marine Crescent in 1982. The school was established to provide a modern education to Chinese children, with a focus on bilingualism and biculturalism.
Over the decades, Tao Nan School has grown and evolved, continuously enhancing its educational programs to meet the needs of its students. The school has consistently upheld its founding principles, striving to provide a holistic education that nurtures the intellectual, moral, physical, and social development of every student.
Unique Programs
BiCEP (Bilingual Competence Programme): Tao Nan School offers the BiCEP program to enhance students' proficiency in both English and Chinese. This program includes various activities designed to promote bilingualism and biculturalism, ensuring students develop strong language skills and cultural understanding.
DSA (Direct School Admission): The school participates in the Direct School Admission exercise, allowing students to secure places in secondary schools based on their talents and achievements in areas such as sports, arts, and academics.
SAP (Special Assistance Plan): The school’s SAP focuses on immersing students in Chinese language and culture through its flagship programme, C2-LIfE. It aims to deepen students’ appreciation of Chinese cultural celebrations like Chinese New Year and the Mid-Autumn Festival, hands-on activities in Chinese calligraphy and painting, and engaging performances such as Chinese opera and tea appreciation workshops. Students also participate in international trips to China and Taiwan, providing them with a rich, real-world understanding of Chinese customs and language.
Values-In-Action (VIA) Programme: The VIA programme is designed to instill values such as responsibility, resilience, and respect. Students participate in community service projects and activities that promote social responsibility and empathy.

Affiliation with Secondary Schools
Tao Nan School does not have a direct affiliation with any specific secondary school. However, through the DSA program, students have the opportunity to gain admission to various prestigious secondary schools in Singapore based on their talents and achievements. The strong foundation provided by Tao Nan School’s unique programs and CCAs prepares students well for the transition to secondary education.

Ballot for Singapore Citizen living within 1km
This is one of the big surprise to know one of the most storied primary school in Singapore has such high success rate of enrolment in Phase 2C. Marine Parade is surrounded by boutique developments but we identify one relatively larger project with good upside potential. Alternatively, one new boutique development with probably one of the best unit layout I've seen is Koon Seng House which is within 1km to Tao Nan and a short walk to Haig Grils' School but it isn't near a MRT station.
